Mark Helprin celebrated 1983 novel WINTER’S TALE finally makes it to the big-screen with Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman’s directorial debut. The plot centres on a petty thief Peter Lake, played by Colin Farrell, who breaks into the home of a bed-ridden young woman (Jessica Brown Findlay), only to slowly fall in love with her. Hot on his trail and back on villain duties for the first time since epic musical LES MISERABLES, Russell Crowe stars as the violent crime kingpin wanting his head!
WINTER’S TALE is set in a mythic New York City and spans more than a century, with the fantasy story filled with miracles, crossed destinies, and the age-old battle between good and evil. It also features an incredible supporting cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt, Eva Marie Saint, Ripley Sobo, Matt Bomer, Mckayla Twiggs, and Will Smith. It’s set to hit US cinemas 14th February and the UK a week later.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
