Oscar fever continues to build as ten features are announced in the Award for Best Animated Short Film category.
After being whittled down from fifty-six potentials, critics can now begin casting their votes to narrow down the ten to around five nominees. The shortlist will be revealed in January, ready for the 86th Oscars on Sunday March 2nd 2014. The ceremony will be broadcast live across the globe.
The Oscar for Best Animated Short gave Walt Disney a whopping twelve Academy Awards out of his twenty-two. It also saw success for the UK and Aardman Animation’s Nick Park with the cheese munching duo Wallace and Gromit in THE WRONG TROUSERS (1993) and A CLOSE SHAVE (1996). To qualify, each picture must be fewer than forty minutes, including credits.
The ten hopefuls are listed below:
Feral
Get a Horse!
Gloria Victoria
Hollow Land
The Missing Scarf
Mr. Hublot
Possessions
Requiem for Romance
Room on the Broom
Subconscious Password
