The countdown to the 86th Academy Awards is well and truly under way. Nineteen features have been submitted to the Best Animated Feature category for films released in 2013.
All films can only qualify if they fulfil certain rules and regulations. The Animated Feature category has been up and running since 2001, when SHREK was the critics’ choice. Last year Pixar Animation Studios’ BRAVE won the prestigious award.
But fans will have to wait until next March to see which feature wins the coveted golden statue. The ceremony will be aired on Oscar Sunday, 2nd March 2014, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and beamed live to TVs across the world. And yes, you’ll get to see comedian Ellen DeGeneres host the razzle dazzle for the second time.
Here’s the complete run-down of the film hopefuls:

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
