Stephen King’s work is hot on the filmmaking agenda once again (not that it ever really went away). Following the recent CARRIE remake (still to hit the UK on the 29th November), details of a PET SEMATARY reboot and an adaptation of his novel CELL – set to feature a 1408 reunion with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson – another of his famed works to set for the big-screen having previously been a fan-favourite mini-series!

Like Tommy Lee Wallace’s terrific 1990 television hit IT starring an almost iconic Tim Curry, the big-screen version that’s currently in the pipeline will also be split into two parts. JANE EYRE’s Cary Fukunaga has landed the directing gig of the supernatural thriller spanning many decades and is one of King’s lengthier novels. The book follows group of close young friends who find themselves are stalked by the demonic and demented Clown named Pennywise, whose figure continues to haunt them into their adult lives.

Fukunaga will co-write the screenplay alongside Chase Palmer and is expected to shoot later next year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
