For myself, this summers most surprisingly enjoyable blockbuster was THE WOLVERINE. The early trailers and promotional campaign suggested a rather run-of-the-mill runaround for everyones favourite X-Man, so I was overjoyed the film ultimately ending up being a blast with a more adult approach to the cigar-choping mutant. Well, for those fans of Logan and James Mangold’s film in particular, this latest news may be welcomed.
It’s now been confirmed 20th Century Fox has begun negotiations with director James Mangold to return for another spin-off of the franchise favourite. As expected, Hugh Jackman will follow him in bringing back his signature angry, adamantium-clawed character, who this week saw his latest entry cross the $400 million mark, despite a lukewarm domestic gross of just over $130 million. It appears the strong overseas pull has the studio believing Wolverine still has legs.
First, we’ll see Logan feature strongly in Bryan Singer’s highly-anticipated all-star X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, which arrives next summer.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
