The first images (below) of Jeremy Renner’s character Gary Webb, has emerged online from the upcoming true story CIA thriller, ‘KILL THE MESSENGER.’ The film follows Webb, a news reporter whose life was ruined when he identified the CIA in a scheme to arm Contra rebels in Nicaragua with weaponry and import cocaine into California. As a result, he is publicly targeted by the CIA in a smear campaign set about to destroy his career, reputation and perhaps even his life.
Directed by Michael Cuesta, ‘KILL THE MESSENGER’ is also written by Peter Landesman and features an impressive cast list, including Rosemarie DeWitt, Ray Liotta, Barry Pepper, Michael Sheen, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Oliver Platt, Andy Garcia, Tim Blake Nelson, Robert Patrick, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Paz Vega.
The release date of ‘KILL THE MESSENGER’ has yet to be identified, but is expected to be sometime within 2014.
