Doctor Who Series 8 To Be ‘At Least’ 13 Episodes

Doctor Who

Good news for fellow Whovian’s out there because showrunner Steven Moffat has (basically) committed to 13 episodes for Peter Capaldi’s twelfth Doctor in 2014!

We’re already in the 50th Anniversary month for the wonderful Doctor Who (bias) and so there’s lot of things to look forward to including ‘The Day of the Doctor‘ on the November 23rd and ‘An Adventure In Time And Space‘ which takes us back to the beginning in a very special one-off special.

Moffat had this to say about the new stuff:

“There’s always a point in production, usually half-way, maybe two thirds, through a series when you realise you’re juggling at least one aspect of each show at once: maybe a press launch for one, another in the edit and I might not have written the last one. You wake up in the night thinking about 13 emergencies, each of them equally calamitous. As a lifestyle choice, it’s questionable.”

He also spoke about all crazy workload, which surely includes Sherlock, and other film work:

“One of the hardest things for me to do is work out when I’ll have time to write. A whole week can disappear when I haven’t had a moment to sit down. I was amazed recently when I got a script ready in time for the tone meeting.”

My one hope for the Capaldi run is they don’t split it into two halves because even though I loved having it over a year, I lost a little connection with Jenna-Louise’s assistant. However, this did also give me an easy excuse to watch them all again. Matt Smith has been just tremendous as The Doctor but it’s always exciting to see what comes next, that’s what makes it unique.

One thing I request, can the first episode be called ‘Twelfth Night’, please?
