Two Tense Trailers For Jason Reitman’s ‘Labor Day’

Two new trailers have surfaced for writer/director Jason Reitman’s dark hostage drama LABOR DAY. The film is based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Maynard which centres on a troubled man (played by SPIDER-MAN’s Tobey Maguire) looking back at the traumatic Labor Day weekend that forever changed his life as 13-year-old boy. After young teen Henry (Gattlin Griffith) convinces his reclusive mother (Kate Winslet) to give shelter to a drifter (Josh Brolin), they find he is actually vicious escaped convict.

“LABOR DAY” centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict.  The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
