Daniel Radcliffe is fast making the memory of his boy wizard Harry Potter disappear with a number of acclaimed recent roles. After his superb portrayal of the Beat movement’s Allen Ginsberg in KILL YOUR DARLINGS, he’ll next be seen leading Alexandre Aja’s gothic modern horror HORNS, which is based of the novel by Joel Hill.
However, he’s not one to leave his British roots behind for the bright lights of Hollywood forever, as he’s officially set to play sporting hero Sebastian Coe in the rivalry biopic GOLD. Radcliffe will reunite with his THE WOMEN IN BLACK director James Watkins for a look as the lead up to the Moscow Olympic Games of 1980, where British athletes Coe and Steve Ovett competed in the 1500 metres.
The film is adapted by Simon Beaufoy and Will Davies from the non-novel ‘The Perfect Distance’ by Pat Butcher. It’s set up to shoot in the UK and Russia shoot in April 2014. No details as yet on just who’ll play Ovett.
