‘Trick ‘R Treat 2’ Is Happening!

Trick R Treat ImageOne of the best films of recent years, and certainly one of the best horror films, was Michael Dougherty’s TRICK ‘R TREAT. It even made its way into our very own Halloweenfest. The anthology horror, in which all the stories were connected, was released after years of delays and being left on the shelf, but has steadily built a cult following. Now, speaking to EW, Michael Dougherty has confirmed that a sequel is on the way.

It’s funny because when I first dreamt up the idea of making the first film, I thought, “How neat would it be if we made them a series? I’m a firm believer that October should be filled with Halloween movies, or horror movies.

We’d have to agree with Mr. Dougherty, and even though the shops are really pushing Christmas sales in October, we say let’s keep things spooky. Doughtery also spoke about his plans for the sequel in regards top how it might be a little different.

I think we’ll shake it up a little bit. There are different archetypes I’d like to explore, different types of monsters. We covered werewolves, vampires, and zombies, but there’s a whole slew of different creatures out there that we haven’t tackled, and I think Sam would probably be pretty good buddies with. So I think it’s time to let them have their time in the sun.

Although we’re very excited, the original was made and ready to roll in 2007 but went straight to DVD in 2009. With this in mind, we’re going to keep our excitement in check until production starts.
