Idris Elba’s gatekeeper Heimdall features in the latest extended clip from Marvel’s second Phase II entry THOR: THE DARK WORLD. His heroic character takes on The Dark Elves and their magnificent flying machines as they target a fearsome battle above the skies of Asgard. It’s pretty damn spectacular!

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
THOR: THE DARK WORLD co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Christopher Eccleston, Stellan Skarsgaard, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Tadanobu Asano, Jamie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Rene Russo, Kat Dennings and Anthony Hopkins. It’s released in UK cinemas 30th October and the US 8th November.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
