For some reason I often find myself championing Australian cinema despite living the UK. The last few years especially has seen me giving shout outs on the pages of THN to the likes of THE HORSEMAN, ANIMAL KINGDOM, THE SQUARE and SNOWTOWN. All absolute must-see gripping thrillers. Today we have a look at another with the first trailer for writer/director Zak Hilditch’s forthcoming tense apocalyptic drama THESE FINAL HOURS.
The film is led by WOLF CREEK’s Nathan Phillips as a self-obssessed young man determined to make it to the party-to-end-all-parties being held by a friend on the last day of Earth. However, he finds himself torn between staying with friends and loved ones and reuniting a kidnapped young girl with her father for the final time.
Daniel Henshall, Jessica De Gouw, David Field, Angourie Rice, Kathryn Beck and Sarah Snook co-star in the film still awaiting release dates in both the UK and the US.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
