Steve Conrad’s John Belushi biopic has got its leading man, and it might be an unexpected name for some. It was announced that Emile Hirsch, star of INTO THE WILD, ALPHA DOG and more recently the TV reboot of BONNIE AND CLYDE, will be tackling the role of the late comedian.
Conrad’s biopic, which he wrote and is also set to direct, will chronicle Belushi’s life from the height of his fame with films such as THE BLUES BROTHERS and ANIMAL HOUSE, to his untimely death at the Chateau Marmont in 1982. It based on the book BELUSHI, written by Judith Belushi Pisano and Tanner Colby.
There is no word on any other casting news just yet, but friend and collaborator of Belushi’s Dan Aykroyd will be executive producing the project (and the big question is – who will play him on the screen?)
The film is expected to go into production in New York City Spring 2014.
