Before you read this article, search for your inner child. Keep going… Found him/her? Excellent!
Now you’ve found the inner child you thought you’d lost, it’s time to get excited because PEANUTS will be hitting the big screen in two years and it has just bagged itself a producer in the form of Paul Feig, best known for producing hit comedies such as THE HEAT and BRIDESMAIDS.
PEANUTS will be based on the late, great Charles Schulz’s iconic comic strip creation, whose most famous characters are Charlie Brown and his faithful canine friend Snoopy.
Feig is possibly best known for the cult television nineties show FREAKS AND GEEKS, which starred James Franco, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel. This will be Feig’s first outing into animation, but he has always been a fan of PEANUTS, saying:
“Growing up, PEANUTS was my STAR WARS. Charles Schulz’s characters influenced everything in my career, especially FREAKS AND GEEKS. I’m thrilled I finally get to be pals with Charlie Brown and Snoopy.”
I think it’s a bit over-the-top comparing PEANUTS to STAR WARS, but it’s great to see a childhood favourite returning to our screens.
PEANUTS is slated to be released in the USA on 6th November 2015.
