Well, it appears Friday’s reading alongside Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele has gone down well with Universal Studios and Focus Features. Irish model and Once Upon A Time actor Jamie Dornan has now been confirmed for the lead of billionaire bondage-lover Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of E.L. James’ novel, FIFTY SHADES OF GREY.
Dornan will be swapping fairytales for filth in dark love story in which his character will be charming the panties off virginal college student Anastasia Steele and buttering her up for some steamy shenanigans. The actor, who made his debut in Sofia Coppola’s 2006 period drama MARIE ANTOINETTE, replaces the departing Charile Hunnam in the film being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Shooting begins next month for a release slated for 1st August 2014. He joins the aforementioned Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Ehle, who plays her mother.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
