If you can’t quite get enough of white people nearly kissing, then have no fear, as another Nicholas Sparks novel is set for the big screen. Just in case you were wondering, it IS a romance and somebody will probably die. Michelle Monaghan will star as the female lead in this 9th adaptation of Sparks’ work. The film will follow two former high-school lovers who both return to their hometown in North Carolina. Sparks will produce alongside Ryan Kavanaugh and Theresa Park.
Michael Hoffman is to direct the feature, which is also the third partnership between Relativity and Sparks. I think I’m still yet to sit down with a Sparks movie, and am mostly familiar with his work through parody and piss taking. Still, there’s an obvious market for his work which shouldn’t be ignored. The last Sparks translation, SAFE HAVEN, took in $71 million on a $28 million budget.
