Cameron Confirms Stephen Lang’s Col. Quadrich Will Return For ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Avatar 05

Fans of James Cameron’s groundbreaking futuristic fantasy and still the highest-grossing film of all-time, AVATAR, may be interested to learn that the visionary director has confirmed his villain in the original pic is set for a return in his forthcoming sequels. Of course, if you remember Colonel Quadrich, played by Stephen Lang, met his demise in the film but will be mysteriously resurrected for those back-to-back instalments that star Sam Worthington recently said will shoot next October.

Cameron commented:

Steven was so memorable in the first film, we’re privileged to have him back. I’m not going to say exactly HOW we’re bringing him back, but it’s a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who’s also become a good friend.

Lang was certainly one of the more memorable characters in the record-breaking 2009 hit. Fingers crossed it’s not some “walks out of the shower and it’s all a dream” bollocks.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
