Warner Brothers have snapped up the rights to Scandinavian author Jo Nesbo’s ‘Blood On Snow,’ according to a report just published on Deadline. The adaptation is being moulded as a potential starring vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio, who will also produce with his Appian Way production company.
The source material, which sees Nesbo write under the pseudonym Tom Johansen, will be published in the autumn of 2014 with a sequel arriving the following spring. According to Deadline, the first book is about a hit man who falls in love with a woman he’s hired to kill. No further information is available, but we presume that DiCaprio is in line to play the lead role of the hit man.
Nesbo has had a few of his novels turned into movies, the most recent being the superb HEADHUNTERS, a THN favourite from 2011, and JACKPOT, which was released in the same year.
A adaptation of Nesbo’s THE SON is also in development at WB.
