Idris Elba To Join ‘Jurassic World’?

An influx of Kaiju and an army of Frost Giants obviously aren’t enough of a challenge for Idris Elba.

Two separate websites (Jurassic World Movie News and Acting Auditions) have mentioned the Brit’s involvement in JURASSIC WORLD, though no official word has been released. Definitely an unexpected casting development if it turns out to be true, Elba would be a welcome presence after earning his stripes in recent big budget affairs PROMETHEUS, PACIFIC RIM and THOR.

The actor’s slate is full to the brim, with current projects including Pierre Morel’s THE GUNMAN alongside Sean Penn and Javier Bardem, Cary Fukunaga’s BEASTS OF NO NATION and the possibility of getting Luther onto the big screen. Yet, with JURASSIC WORLD set for a June 2015 release, there’s definitely time to squeeze this in.

Though far from the most reliable of sources, Wikipedia references Elba, but also makes mention of fellow British actor David Oyelowo. Variety put their foot in it by mentioning Bryce Dallas Howard, Josh Brolin and Oyelowo’s casting in a post that was soon redacted (you can see it here), leaving only Dallas Howard. With Brolin now in negotiations, Variety’s jump the gun announcement may see Oyelowo still in the frame.

With ‘Jurassic World Movie News’ and ‘Acting Auditions’ appearing to treat Elba’s involvement as fact, it’s hard to believe this is sheer coincidence. Don’t go cancelling the apocalypse just yet…

JURASSIC WORLD stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson and will be released on 12th June, 2015.
