Promising Stills Suggest ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ Could Be Epic As Shooting Wraps!

Shooting on Brett Ratner’s forthcoming sword n’ sandals reboot of the mythic greek god has now officially been completed. HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS will now move onto post-production as the director and his effects and editing team begin putting the pic together for its release next summer. Continuing his trend of free publicity for the MGM studio, Dwayne Johnson has tweeted his final set stills, which are arguably the most impressive so far!

Ratner’s not a filmmaker known for being a hit with the critics and his alienated fans of X-MEN franchise in the past with the poor X-MEN: THE LAST STAND. I feel critical and commercial success of this epic is going to rest on the shoulders of it’s lead… but boy, are those big bloody shoulders!

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend. Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
