Two flies in an airing cupboard. Which one’s in the army? The one on the tank.
I didn’t make that joke up, so forgive me for its lack of funny. But it is kind of relevant as director David Ayer’s World War II film FURY is all about tanks. And who doesn’t love a good tank?
Set at the end of the war in 1945 Germany, Brad Pitt stars as sergeant ‘Wardaddy’, who leads the crew of a Sherman tank (which incidentally is Cockney rhyming slang for something I’m not going to mention) on a seemingly suicidal mission against the Nazis. The film is currently under production in London and, thanks to Ayer’s generous Twittering of set images, we can see what’s going on. The images show how the director is filming scenes both outside and inside the tanks and film enthusiasts should be pleased to see that it is being shot on traditional film. As for tank aficionados, this is possibly the film you have been waiting your entire life for.
Here are the images:
Alongside the Pitt, FURY stars Shia LaBeouf (TRANSFORMERS), Logan Lerman (PERCY JACKSON, also the upcoming NOAH), and (hello to) Jason Isaacs (HARRY POTTER’s Lucius Malfoy). It rolls into cinemas on 14th November 2014. As always, stay tuned to THN for all the news and (ready?) tanks for reading. Come on, that one was funny…
