Surely a contender for possible awards in this upcoming season, a second trailer has broken out for iconic South African biopic MANDELA: A LONG WALK TO FREEDOM. Idris Elba leads as the historic anti-apartheid revolutionary and later politician, in a dramatisation that will explore his life during his time fighting for the rights of his nation. The film is said to be an intimate portrait of how he became the man he is. A sprawling epic spanning his childhood in a desperate rural village, early years as a freedom fighter, his later controversial imprisonment and finally, elected President of country he loves despite its harrowing history.
MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM is due for release in the US on the 29th November and in the UK 3rd January 2014. It co-stars Naomie Harris, Tony Kgoroge, Jamie Bartlett, Riaad Moosa, Terry Pheto and Lindiwe Matshikiza. THE OTHER BOLYEN GIRL’s Justin Chadwick directs from a screenplay by William Nicholson.
