Is Rashida Jones Set To Say ‘I Love You, (Ant-) Man’?

Talk of ANT-MAN casting earlier this week for director Edgar Wright forthcoming superhero adventure saw Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd linked to the role of Henry Pym. Given Wright’s comedic background, I think it’s safe to say it was always going to have a more amusing edge than Marvel’s previous efforts. Funny means a natural ‘funnyman’ may well be needed and both fit the bill. The DON JON actor JGL has since claimed it’s only rumours, while Paul Rudd has remained tight-lipped. Needless to say, those sources who broke the story are adamant both actors will be meeting Marvel chiefs.

As for the lead female role. Word has it that Janet Van Dyne, a comic-book character known as The Wasp, will be introduced in the film, although not as her alter-ego initially. That’s apparently something being kept for sequels but will be hinted at throughout the opening Phase III film. Well, we may have an I LOVE YOU, MAN reunion as Parks & Recreation regular Rashida Jones is top of Marvel’s shortlist. She’s appeared opposite Rudd in both that aforementioned comedy favourite and the equally enjoyable all-star indie OUR IDIOT BROTHER.

Do fans think Jones is the right choice? Do let us know.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

The right choice would have been the cutie (can’t remember her name) who played an Extremis villain in Iron Man 3, but sadly they already gave her the wrong role.

Umm, no. She’s too hispanic looking and a bit too tall. Wasp needs to be tiny.
