Not only is he the star of the show, but he is also giving us the first looks too! Neil Patrick Harris tweeted this brand new poster for HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, and even though he is not sporting the famous Hedwig hair, we have to say we are excited!
The show is set to make its Broadway debut in March 2014, with only a short run planned. It is being directed by Michael Mayer, also known for directing other rock musicals like SPRING AWAKENING and Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT.
HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH tells the story of a fictional rock band fronted by a East German transgendered woman named Hedwig Robinson. It follows her as she tries to fight for recognition after an ex lover steals her songs and becomes famous. The show, created by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, was also made into a film in 2001.
Back in June, Harris said that he was “simultaneously ecstatic and terrified” to take over the role of Hedwig, but if we’re judging by poster alone…he has nothing to worry about.
