Welcome to Wes Anderson’s GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, where Ralph Fiennes (replacing Johnny Depp) is your concierge and Saoirse Ronan his trusty protégé. Following on from 2012’s magnificent Oscar-nominated MOONRISE KINGDOM, the 2014 release revolves around the theft of a priceless painting in the titular famous European hotel. Of course, as expected in Anderson’s work, huge family feuds ensue, but they will apparently be set to a backdrop of specific events that transformed Europe during the first half of the 20th century.
The first of Anderson’s films to showcase his solo writing efforts away from usual collaborators Owen Wilson, Noah Baumbach and Roman Coppola, he has once again assembled a cast of dreamlike proportions, and it’s a wonder this mixture of longtime favourites (Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Owen Wilson for starters) and new A-list additions (say hello to Jude Law) fit on the glorious one sheet. If you check out the grandiose cast list, you’ll realise they actually don’t…
Though reminiscent of a spongy showstopper one might see on The Great British Bake Off, this first poster is nothing short of beautiful. Check it out in all its pastel glory below – it’s safe to place your bets on Anderson’s choice of colour scheme this time around:
