THE HUNGER GAMES and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK actress, Jennifer Lawrence, is currently attached to star in THE GLASS CASTLE, a moving memoir by Jeanette Walls. With Lionsgate producing and Marti Noxon, writer of FRIGHT NIGHT and some BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER episodes, scripting, it looks as though a director is close to being confirmed. Destin Cretton, director of indie darling SHORT TERM 12, is in talks to direct the powerful adaptation.
THE GLASS CASTLE follows the Walls family, who raised their children as nomads, travelling from place to place and fully embracing life. But as times became harder and the family had to settle, the father soon turned to alcohol, leaving the children to fend for themselves.
No doubt it will be a bit of a tearjerker and with this talent involved it sounds as though the material will be treated with respect, as well as not getting too sentimental.
