Last weeks saw Simon Kinberg brought in to rewrite the script of 20th Century Fox superhero reboot FANTASTIC FOUR, which will be directed by CHRONICLE’s Josh Trank. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and KICK-ASS director Matthew Vaughn is also producing the film alongside Kinberg with screen testing now currently underway. Despite rumours, I think it’s safe to see Elizabeth Olsen can now be ruled out as a contender for Susan Storm after landing the role of The Scarlet Witch in Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Michael B. Jordan is still a favourite for The Human Torch but a few more names are beginning to filter through regarding those tests, which again suggests they’re looking to young talent.
Variety reports GAME OF THRONES’ Kit Harington, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE’s rising Brit Jack O’Connell and forthcoming DIVERGENT actor Miles Teller (who had previously been rumoured), have all been contacted to test for Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. On the ladies side, THE LOVELY BONES (and possibly STAR WARS-bound) actress Saoirse Ronan, SHOOTER’s Kate Mara and ABOUT TIME’s Margot Robbie, are all poised to test for Sue Storm, or to give her superpowered moniker, The Invisible Girl. However, still nothing regarding Ben ‘The Thing’ Grimm. Motion-captured we think!
What do you guys think? Remember, FANTASTIC FOUR is set for cinemas March 2015.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
