Guillermo Del Toro’s smash hit of the summer PACIFIC RIM is released on Blu-Ray and DVD next week in the US and on 11th November in the UK. The plot of the film sees Earth at war with giant creatures known as the Kijus who had appeared through a dimensional tear in the sea. Starring soon to Mr Christian Grey Charlie Hunnam, and the always fantastic Idris Elba the story follows Hunnam’s Raleigh Becket a retired Jaeger drifter as he returns to help mankind in their final attempt to stop the Kijus for good.
To wet our appetites we have been treated to to one of the extras, the trusty blooper reel. Coming in at just under four minutes the feature highlights all the fun that the cast had making the movie, with comedian Charlie Day contributing to almost every clip. The award for easiest to make laugh goes to life-long Del Toro collaborator Ron Perlman.
When I viewed PACIFIC RIM during Idris Elba’s rousing speech ahead of the final battle I couldn’t help but think how much it reminded me of the INDEPENDENCE DAY speech. I had hoped that somewhere with the vault of filmed footage there was a take wherein Elba ended his speech with ‘today we celebrate our independence day!’ this however unfortunately does not appear to have happened.
Check out the blooper reel below:
