The season of good fear is almost upon us as the kiddies dress up in creepy costumes and later their parents feast on a horror flick once their all tucked up in bed. This October sees the appropriate release of genre hopefuls CARRIE, MISCHIEF NIGHT and WE ARE WHAT WE ARE (depending on your location). While there is no sign of a general release date, indie slasher TORMENT looks like it may well be one to watch out for in the future.
REC producers Filmax have released the festival trailer for the unsettling shocker directed by Jordan Barker. TORMENT features stunning fan favourite scream queen Katharine Isabelle (GINGER SNAPS), last seen leading the Soska Sisters’ outstanding and insanely twisted body (modification) horror AMERICAN MARY. The film makes it’s debut at the upcoming Los Angeles’ Screamfest event with Robin Dunne and Stephen McHattie also co-starring.
The story concerns Cory Morgan, his wife and their 3 year old daughter Emily who decide to spend a quiet family holiday alone. When Sarah starts seeing strange things around the house, it soon becomes clear that they have some unwanted guests. Now the family are forced to fight for their lives in what has become a festival of terror of epic proportions.
We’ve also included the creepy, Disney-inspired new poster.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
