Sometimes it feels like all we do here at THN is write about remakes and spin-offs… Not that we mind if they’re well made! The latest remakes news is about Columbia’s ANNIE remake, produced quite excitingly by Will Smith and Jay-Z.
SOUTHLAND’s Dorian Missick has been cast as Annie’s fake Dad, and he’ll be joining Tracie Thoms as her fake Mum, with the girl herself to be played by Quvenzhane Wallis who was nominated for an Oscar for her breath-taking performance in BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz will also be starring in the film, with the latter playing the infamous Miss Hannigan.
Missick’s previous films include LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN, HAVEN, and has recently shot BEWARE THE NIGHT, also starring Joel McHale and Eric Bana.
ANNIE is set to be released Christmas 2014, and we can’t wait, hopefully the combination of Will Smith and Jay-Z making a musical will help us forget Smith’s recent disaster (of a) movie AFTER EARTH.
