It’s opening the London Film Festival in just over a weeks’ time and the first clip from Tom Hanks drama CAPTAIN PHILLIPS has arrived online today. Showing the shocking and tense moment when pirates board his ship, Tom Hanks looks in great form playing real life hero Captain Richard Phillips who had his American cargo ship hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009.
British director Paul Greengrass, whose previous credits include UNITED 93 and THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, looks to have brought the true story to life to give the audience a thrilling ride. CAPTAIN PHILLIPS also stars Catherine Keener as Phillip’s wife and Barkhad Abdi as chief hijacker Muse. Following it’s gala opening at the London Film Festival it is released nationwide on October 18th. Take a look at the clip below to check out Hanks in action:
