‘Constantine’ Television Series In Development

Constantine 2

It certainly feels as if comic related shows are taking over television at the moment, it seems it’s not enough for Warner Bros TV and DC Comics to have the successful ARROW plus THE FLASH and GOTHAM in development, now they are developing a CONSTANTINE television series.

You may remember in 2005 their was a film based on the comic series starring Keanu Reeves, although it received a lukewarm response from critics it still managed to double its production budget. Also earlier this year it was revealed that Guillermo Del Toro is developing a JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK film which will feature the character, although no further news about the potential film as been heard since.

Deadline have the exclusive news about the series from THE MENTALIST executive producer Daniel Cerone and MAN OF STEEL writer David S. Goyer, here’s what they say:

‘Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics are on a roll this development season with a third high-profile project. Constantine, a drama based on the characters in DC Comics’ John Constantine stories, has sold to NBC with penalty. It is written/executive produced by The Mentalist executive producer Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, the go-to writer for Warner Bros.’ feature DC adaptations. Constantine centers on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond’.

Well David S. Goyer is certainly going to be a busy man for the next few years, with BATMAN VS SUPERMAN and potentially JUSTICE LEAGUE to juggle alongside producing duties for CONSTANTINE and his existing show DA VINCI’S DEMONS.

As always we’ll update you with any more news on this project.
