Double Bram Stoker award-winning Brian Keene has had his novella The Cage commissioned for the film treatment. The story centres on the employees of an electronics store, whose peaceful work day is interrupted when a gunman bursts into the store and begins shooting. With some of their co-workers dead, the hostages begin disappearing one-by-one, and the survivors must then try and escape.
Set to shoot in February 2014 the film announced one of it’s core cast members yesterday via Twitter. Last seen in the gore-soaked HATCHET 3, Zach Galligan star of eighties classics GREMLINS, and WAXWORK took to the social networking site to update followers on his next project. Galligan will be playing a part called Simon whom he described as being badass. From the sound of the synopsis, and Keene being known for his horror, it looks like Galligan will be playing to his strengths.
With a shoot date of February we can probably expect a release around this time next year though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
