We’ve known for quite sometime that Bradley Cooper would voice the gun-toting critter Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. However, we’ve only seen concept artwork giving us clues to the appearance of the comic-book character. Well, fans can now feast their eyes on Oreo, the actual cute and cuddly creature who will be used to motion-capture the style and movement of the foul-mouthed heroic space outlaw, who’s an integral part of the group led by Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill aka Star Lord.
His handlers have released the following statement:
We are happy to share the news, our raccoon Oreo got his chance to star. He can work in James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, and will be a model for the Jet raccoon. This news is very pleased us and we are so happy to be a part of this project. All, and especially James Gunn, refer to the Oreo with kindness and respect, and as always, our little friend is attracting attention to himself. We are very grateful for this opportunity and can not wait for the film.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is slated for cinemas from 1st August 2014 and also features Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Honsou, Glenn Close, Peter Serafinowicz and John C. Reilly. James Gunn directs and co-penned the screenplay with Nichole Perlman.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
