Ron Howard Swaps The Fast Lane For The High Seas

Having taken the UK box office by storm with James Hunt biopic, RUSH, Ron Howard is set to re-team with leading man Chris Hemsworth for IN THE HEART OF THE SEA.

Based on the true life story that inspired Moby Dick, Howard’s next project will focus on Nathaniel Philbrick’s novel about a group of sailors who struggled to survive after their boat was damaged by a sperm whale.

Where you get a Ron Howard vehicle, you get big talent, and his latest boasts some of Britain’s best. Ben Whishaw takes the role of author, Herman Merville, with Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson and THE IMPOSSIBLE’s Tom Holland also onboard. Benjamin ‘ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER’ Walker is set to play Captain George Pollard, a character previously linked to both Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch. But with Hemsworth and Hiddles fresh in everyone’s minds as warring Marvel brothers, Thor and Loki, and Cumberbatch one of the most in demand actors around, maybe it’s time the Julliard-trained Walker got something to sink his teeth into besides vampire hunting – even if cannibalism is set to be a prime issue of the movie!

Filming is now officially underway in the UK, and the team will spend their time hopping between our fair isle and the somewhat sunnier Canary Islands.

In the meantime, check out these production stills we posted last month.
