During the final ever episode of their hit serial-killer drama DEXTER, US cable Showtime showcased their forthcoming monster mash-up series PENNY DREADFUL which is set to fill the void left by Michael C. Hall’s conflicted psychopath. Oscar-nominated screenwriter of GLADIATOR, THE AVIATOR and SKYFALL, John Logan, is the man behind the creation being described as a psychosexual horror series which is also being executively produced by Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris.
The literary horror icons including Dr. Frankenstein, his creature, Dorian Gray and characters from Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula will all play their part in the period show set in Victorian London. It centres on these characters’ classic origins, how they cross paths and their struggles in dealing with their supernatural place in that world… Think a coherent version of THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN.
PENNY DREADFUL stars Josh Hartnett, Billie Piper, Timothy Dalton, Helen McCrory, Reeve Carney, Harry Treadaway, Rory Kinnear and Eva Green. It’s set to air later next year!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
