The infamous role in which Shia LaBeouf claims he took acid in an effort to get into character, THE NECESSARY DEATH OF CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN, debuted at Sundance earlier this year without much fuss. The film sees the TRANSFORMERS star lead as an American tourist who falls in love with beautiful Romanian girl Gabi (played by Evan Rachel Wood). However, Charlie finds his life in danger when he learns she’s the estranged wife of a psychotic gangster named Nigel (the ace Mads Mikkelsen).
The film, which may be released in certain territories as the simple CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN, is the feature film debut of music video aficionado Fredrik Bond and has a script from PROJECT X’s Matt Drake. Check out these posters from film slated for UK cinemas 8th November and the US 15th November. We’ve also added the first trailer for those that missed it.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
