A filmmaker I love and not just because he’s a fellow native Geordie, DOG SOLDIERS and THE DESCENT’s writer/director Neil Marshall has found his next project. He’s set for an English-language remake of Norwegian found-footage fantasy horror TROLL HUNTER, which will be financed by IMG Global. The film will begin production early next year on a $25 million budget, once Marshall completes work on his latest episode from hit series GAME OF THRONES. He most recently shot the pilot for Michael Bay and Starz’s high-seas adventure series BLACK SAILS.
Marshall will rewrite a previous draft from Marc Haimes for his take on the André Øvredal-directed 2010 film. The cult original focused on a band of investigative students, who, while following a mysterious hunter into the woods during a set of bear killings, discover his real ‘hobby’ is actually sniffing out towering mythic creatures!
We’ll keep you posted regarding casting.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
