Down The Drain: First Look At The Lair Of The ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’

Things didn’t start out well for the reboot of the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. Michael Bay controversially claimed that the sewer-dwelling superheroes would get a new ‘alien’ origin and then decided on simpler title of NINJA TURTLES. Fanboy outcry led to Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company reneging on their plans, claiming it will be the “ooze” that will be alien and Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s cult creation will stick with the original moniker.

Director of the unremarkable WRATH OF THE TITANS and BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, Jonathan Liebsman, is at the helm. A relatively unknown cast of Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Alan Ritchson and Jeremy Howard are the Cowabunga-bellowing amphibians with Danny Woodburn as their rat mentor Master Splinter. All will be hidden behind a mountain of green-screen and special-effects. Arguably the film will be carried by Megan Fox is the intrepid reporter April O’Neill and the hilarious Will Arnett as her clueless cameraman. Then there is the excellent William Fichtner as chief villain Shredder!

Check out this first look at the secret lair of the pizza-munching, awesome foursome.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
