‘Thor: The Dark World’ Extended Trailer Hits!

Snippets of new footage has emerged in the latest extended trailer for Marvel Studios’ return to the big-screen. Chris Hemsworth’s demigod Thor is back to swinging that hammer at the evildoers of Asgard as the mythic comic-book favourite must take on Christopher Eccleston’s devious Malekith The Accursed – leader of the Dark Elves. THOR: THE DARK WORLD is the next in Marvel’s Phase II cannon and is directed by GAME OF THRONES frequent helmer Alan Taylor.

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD co-stars Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Stellen Skarsgaard, Jamie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins. It’s released in UK cinemas 30th October and the US 8th November.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

A cannon is a big gun that shoots shells. The word you’re looking for is canon, with only one N.
