First Clips From All-Star JFK Assassination Drama ‘Parkland’

Despite it’s absolute bonkers take on the unforgettable date of the 22nd November 1963, Oliver Stone’s JFK is still one of my all-time favourite films. So, anything regarding the tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy I must seek out. The latest version of that fateful day in Dallas, Texas is writer/director Peter Landesman’s superbly cast PARKLAND. A gripping dramatisation centred on number of ordinary individuals caught in the infamous aftermath.

PARKLAND is based on the book “Four Days In November,” by renowned author and former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi and we have three new clips from the film produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman.

November 22nd, 1963 was a day that changed the world forever – when young American President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. We follow in almost real time a handful of individuals forced to make split-second decisions after this incomprehensible event that would change their lives and forever alter our world’s landscape: the young doctors and nurses at Parkland Hospital, the chief of the Dallas Secret Service, the unwitting cameraman who captured what has become the most watched and examined film in history, the FBI Agents who had gunman Lee Harvey Oswald within their grasp and Vice President Lyndon Johnson who had to take control of a country in a moment’s notice. Thrust into a scenario of unprecedented drama with unimaginable consequences, these key characters respond with shock, outrage, determination and courage. Woven together, their seemingly disparate perspectives make one of the most thrilling and powerful stories never told.

PARKLAND stars Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, Billy Bob Thornton, Jacki Weaver, Paul Giamatti, James Badge Dale, Jackie Earle Haley, Colin Hanks, David Harbour, Ron Livingston, Jeremy Strong and Tom Welling. It’s released in US cinemas 20th September and the UK 8th November.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
