‘Filth’ Gets Serious With Latest Clip Featuring McAvoy & Poots

Earlier today we brought you the hilarious second clip from the adaptation of author Irvine Welsh’s controversial novel FILTH. CASS writer/director Jon S. Baird is at the helm of the pitch black comedy featuring the excellent James McAvoy as the self destructive detective Bruce Robertson. The bigoted, junkie cop determined to continue on a downward spiral while attempting to win back his wife and kids over the course of the Christmas period.

Another clip has surfaced, this time a lot more serious in tone as McAvoy’s top cop crosses paths with his colleague, played by Imogen Poots.

FILTH co-stars Shirley Henderson, Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Martin Compston, Joanne Froggett, Pollyanna McIntosh and is released in Scottish cinemas from 27th September and the remainder of the UK 4th October. No details as yet on a US date. You can find details on how to enter our exclusive competition to win tickets for the world premiere in Glasgow by clicking this link.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Imogene Poots plays his colleague, Amanda, not his wife.
