Jason Blum is the producing mastermind behind so many recent hit horror films. He is responsible for the likes of the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and INSIDIOUS franchises, as well as THE PURGE, SINISTER, and DARK SKIES. Through his production company, Blumhouse Productions, he is constantly raking i the cash with small budget box-office success stories. He’s set to cross his fingers for another franchise lead by Aaron Eckhart in the form of exorcism focused frightfest INCARNATE. Eckhart will play the role of an exorcist who can tap into the subconscious of those that have been possessed. INCARNATE will focus on a case that sees him battling a demon from Eckhart’s past who has taken residence within a 9 year-old boy.
Brad Peyton, director of JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND and CATS AND DOGS: THE REVENGE OF KITTY GALORE will sit in the director’s chair, making a change from his family orientated sequels of the past. I find it very hard to separate exorcism films from the all-time classic THE EXORCIST, which handled the subject so darn well. However, in recent years we have had surprise successes in the forms of THE LAST EXORCISM and THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE, so fingers crossed.
