While the chances of a DREDD sequel are unfortunately looking slim, its star Olivia Thirlby is keeping busy and will be joining the cast of Screen Gems’ THE WEDDING RINGER.
Thirlby will be joining Josh Gad, Kevin Hart, Kaley Cuoco and Affion Crockett, whilst Jeremy Garekick will be directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Jay Lavender. Thirlby’s character is said to be the sister of Cuoco’s and also a love interest for Kevin Hart’s Jimmy. The plot is described as follows:
‘Jimmy (Hart) provides best man services for socially challenged guys, who for whatever reason, have no one close enough to agree to stand by them on the day of their wedding. Doug (Gad) a groom-to-be, has found himself in just such a situation, but, to make matters worse, he fabricates the names of not only a best man but nine groomsmen as well. When all else fails, Doug seeks out Jimmy’s services to carry out a charade designed to make Doug look his best, but threatens to destroy everything if it fails’.
The films’ premise definitely sounds like it could provide some solid laughs, so here’s hoping it lives up to its potential and proves to be a well written, original comedy with memorable characters. No official release date for the film has been set but we will update you with any additional news as we get it.
