Three Top Candidates for CW’s ‘The Flash’?

the-flash

ARROW season 2 is receiving a fair amount of attention following its impressive debut season and use of DC Comics characters. As a result the news that its second season would incorporate even more characters from DC Comics’ diverse library was embraced with open arms.

Since July a variety of characters have been confirmed to appear in ARROW’s second season such as Black Canary, Isabel Rochev, Amanda Waller, Bronze Tiger and Brother Blood. However, the character that has generated the most excitement is the inclusion of well known DC Comics superhero Barry Allen aka The Flash. ARROW will be breaking its no super powers rule to include the character and Stephen Amell recently confirmed in an interview that permission had to be granted from Christopher Nolan himself in order to use the character.

Barry Allen will appear in three episodes of ARROW season 2 before appearing in his own spin-off programme on the CW. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg  has states that the character has to be cast by the end of the month and Latino Review have the exclusive on the three actors battling it out for the role. Below are the three contenders pictured.

Th Flash Candidates

These relatively unknown actors are James Mackay, Matt Barr and Grant Gustin. James Mackay is a 28 year old Australian actor and the 2013 winner of the Heath Ledger scholarship Award  for young performers and film makers in the US. He has also appeared in DONT BE AFRAID OF THE DARK and Roland Joffe’s upcoming SINGULARITY. The 29 year old Matt Barr has worked with the CW previously on the now cancelled HELLCATS which was produced by SMALLVILLE’s Tom Welling. Finally 23 year old Grant Gustin has had a recurring role as Sebastian Smythe on GLEE and also on the CW’s own 90201. It’s unknown at the moment which of these actors will win the part but we are sure to know very soon. As always we will keep you posted with any updates on the casting.
