A Third Trailer Kicks Ass For Keanu Reeves’ ’47 Ronin’

The (wooden) One returns! Keanu Reeves is finally coming back to the big-screen in the long-delayed big-budget martial-arts epic, 47 RONIN. The action adventure is inspired by the Japanese Samurai/Kung-fu genre of 30 year ago, which are still popular today thanks to the likes of Ang Lee, John Woo and Quentin Tarantino. Rumoured to cost close to $250 million, 47 RONIN is directed by Carl Rinsch and hits US cinemas Christmas Day and the UK Boxing Day.

Check out this brand new international trailer (the third in total) and poster for the film co-starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi.

The troupe of banished samurai long to restore their honor and find vengeance against the treacherous Lord Kira (Tadanobu Asano), who was responsible for the death of their master. Kai is the uneasy compatriot in their company and his standing will be questioned even more as he falls in love with Mika (Ko Shibasaki), daughter of the fallen master. The film presents a quest where the ronin (the term for samurai with no master) face trials that test their mettle and their loyalty to one another

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
