Director George Miller’s been promising a new MAD MAX actioner for what seems like decades now. Last year saw the long in development MAD MAX: FURY ROAD finally begin filming with Tom Hardy as the post-acopalyptic Road Warrior, previously played by Mel Gibson in Miller’s original classic trilogy. The six month Namibian shoot was a punishing one for the cast, one which saw the budget escalate considerably. Still, we’ve yet to see any official footage despite many believing Warner Bros. would give fans a sneak peek at San Diego Comic Con.
We’re now hearing the rumoured early 2014 release is going to be pushed back as Miller is bringing back the principle cast for an additional three weeks of shooting (they’re refusing to call them reshoots as that’s never a good sign) in Miller’s native Australia. This despite the film being completed almost a year ago. There has been no sign of a teaser trailer or even official stills (aside from a fans blurry signed image of Hardy as the titular action hero) so how bad could things be? Fingers crossed we’ll see MAD MAD: FURY ROAD sometime next year!
The film will co-star Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Courtney Eaton, Jennifer Hagan, iOTA, John Howard, Richard Carter, Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
