THE DUCHESS’ Director Saul Dibb’s upcoming 1940s drama SUITE FRANCAISE has released its first image.
The film stars Michelle Williams (SHUTTER ISLAND, MY WEEK WITH MARILYN) and tells the story of Lucile Angellier, A young French woman awaiting the return of her husband who’s been captured and is now a prisoner of war. Lucille lives with her overbearing mother in law and her life takes a further turn for the worse as Parisian refugees spill into her small town with German soldiers hot on their heels.
Based on the novel by French writer Irene Nemirovsky the production is a co-venture for the Weinstein company and BBC films with backing from France’s TF1 Droits Audiovisuels and Entertainment One.
The film also stars Matthias Schoenaerts (RUST AND BONE), Kristin Scott Thomas (ONLY GOD FORGIVES), Sam Riley (ON THE ROAD) and Ruth Wilson (THE LONE RANGER).
