Although spawning two weaker sequels and terrible cross franchise spin-offs, ALIEN and ALIENS are arguably two of the greatest films ever made. Directed by two of the most influential directors in the industry, Ridley Scott and James Cameron, the saga has an extremely dedicated fan base.
Although created for the 2003 release of the quadrilogy retrospective documentaries The Beast Within: The Making of Alien, and Superior Firepower: The Making of Aliens have now become available online. At a whooping five hours in total the documentaries take an extremely in-depth look at how both films came into creation. With such an extended run-time, the documentaries will only really appeal to hardcore fans. I myself have watched both as part of my University studies and can confirm that despite their length they are full of interesting anecdotes about the filming process. One of the highlights for myself is seeing footage of Bolaji Badejo, the 6ft 7″ African student who was the man in the suit during ALIEN.
