Bryan Cranston Talks Lex Luthor Rumours!

Rumours have been suggesting the brilliant Bryan Cranston is already signed on for multiple appearances in the forthcoming MAN OF STEEL sequel(s). However, in a recent interview the BREAKING BAD actor addresses those sketchy details of him possibly taking on the iconic role of Superman’s arch nemesis Lex Luthor in a massive recurring deal said to be at least six pictures.

Speaking with The Boston Globe, the publication posed the questions about those rumours and if he is indeed a deal is in the offing. Cranston replied:

I’ve heard that too. Six? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.

Asked if former Luthor actor Gene Hackman would be his go-to-guy for advice on the role if offered, he playfully commented:

I can just see how that phone call would go. ‘Gene? Hi, this is Bryan Cranston.’ ‘Who? Bryan Cranston? What do you want? How did you get this number?

However, Cranston also confirmed his slate is pretty clear after 2013 is done and with the still-untitled Batman/Superman project set to shoot early next year, he could well fit that in:

I think I’ll relax the rest of the year. There’s some irons in the fire, things that people are talking about, but nothing is set.

The truth is whether he has or has not been offered or is in talks for the role, any confirmation is unlikely to come from himself. There is no doubt his acclaimed performance as Walter White in BREAKING BAD has him as the fans firm favourite. Would Cranston be your choice? As ever, let us know!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
